Keyboard of the Winds
Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
This view high above Nymph Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park shows off the spectacular mountain cirque west of Longs Peak and the Keyboard of the Winds. Below, the last remnant of snow and ice recedes from the lake on this late spring day. I stepped off the trail on my way back from Dream Lake, and climbed up a 10' rock outcrop, edged around to the backside, and felt fortunate to find a relatively flat area to set down my pack, set up my tripod, and open up my 1898 Rochester King 8x10 camera. The clouds above Longs and the light flooding into the snowy cirque looked spectacular--so much so that I had to make this photograph.
